CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE

All classroom rules for behavior and for success are based on respect: respect for self, respect for one another, respect for learning, respect for our school. These "rules" of etiquette are the same rules that society expects from you.

  1. Respect yourself. You are valuable to all our learning experiences. Take pride in how you think.
  2. Be courteous when others are speaking. This means that you listen and do so with an open mind to others' ideas.
  3. Listen carefully to each other. Each of us is a teacher in some way. Try to learn from everyone.
  4. Share yourself with everyone. Give consideration and friendship to all and you will take consideration and friendship for yourself.
  5. Be neat and organized. It is a reflection of your inner self.
  6. Treat your books and classroom materials with care. They are the tools of your trade.
  7. Be proud of yourself, your family, your friends, your class, and your school.
  8. Wear your U.S. citizenship like a badge of pride and concern. Be aware of your country's gifts.
  9. Be eager to learn. It is your right in this life. Be greedy for knowledge.
  10. Be yourself. You are a unique gift from God. Let us share that gift.

SPECIFIC RULES TO ENSURE LEARNING AND SAFETY

  1. Have pens, pencils, red pens, texts, looseleaf, notebook, folder etc. for class everyday.

  2. Homeroom students must be at their desks ready for prayer at 7:55. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  3. No one may go into the closet after morning prayer until the lunch bell rings.
  4. If you drop food etc., please clean up after yourself.
  5. Snacks must be healthy and easy to eat. NO DRINKS.
  6. Use only YOUR desk to store books, etc. Keep it neat. If other classes place papers in unassigned desks, please clean them out.
  7. You must be packed up for dismissal at lunch time BEFORE recess. Place the bookbag on the floor beside your chair.
  8. No books may be on the floor during classtime. This is dangerous for us all.
  9. No note passing. If you have something pressing to say, ask permission to say it.
  10. Use the lav ONLY when individual work is assigned and you are finished. NEVER leave while the teacher is speaking. Be sure to sign out and in. Only one student may be out of the room at a time.
  11. Obey bus rules.
  12. Utilize the time at prayer services and Masses as a time to commune with God, not each other.
